Brainiac was a member of the Legion of Doom seeking to defeat the Justice League of America, a.k.a. the Super Friends. After adopting a more mechanical outer appearance, he would continue to oppose the JLA independently and with Darkseid's forces.

- This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the television series Super Friends and its tie-in comic book series: Super Friends (Volume 1), Super Powers (Volume 1), Super Powers (Volume 2) and Super Powers (Volume 3). It is an adaptation of Brainiac. The original character was created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino and first appeared in Action Comics #242.
- Brainiac was voiced by Ted Cassidy for Challenge of the Super Friends and Stanley Ralph Ross for later Super Friends series.
