The Brand was a Gotham City criminal, costumed as a masked western bandit.

History

He started a criminal spree, leaving clues in brands to his forthcoming crimes and challenging Batman and Robin to stop him. The first two brand clues were solved by Batman and the crimes were prevented, but during the third clue, Batman realized that this crime was a distraction for a real crime. The Brand had planned to keep the Dynamic Duo busy, while he stole a hundred thousand dollars from the bank, which was donated by Batman. The Brand's crimes were ruses to delay Batman until he could tunnel into the vault, but the heroes eventually deduced his plan and captured him. Afterwards, the Brand was sent to prison.

• This version of the Brand, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023.
