Synopsis for "Brass, Part 5"

In spite of Tilaug's victory over the Kusht, the planet's people didn't celebrate nor do they applaud for their soldiers Brass, Eryx, Asubal and Jeq. The remaining four bring the caskets of their fallen members to a desert far away from any life from the infection of the War Virus for burial. Due to Brass' suggestion their fallen comrades are given a Viking funeral.

Matters begins to deteriorate in the war's aftermath: Jeq's loss of his brother cause him to shows signs of depression and Asubal also suffering emotionally, though showing signs of uncontrollable anger instead of sadness. After returning home, Asubal want to see his family but his wife would not see him and someone else had to bring him his son which only made him more furious. Hershel, who hasn't any resolve over his friends' angst and problems, and seeing that his purpose on Tilaug is over, prepares to go back to Earth.

Hershel meets with Siggah of his return to Earth, but learns that only Eryx has the coordinate sequence to his planet and insists to oversee the transition. While knowing Siggah's contempt, Hershel argues that he and the others should be treated with respect for the war. However, Siggah points out that their "victory" caused thousands of their enemy dead in space and that the question of either options of kill or be kill were necessary. Leaving Hershel confounded. On the transition station, Eryx talks to Hershel on staying with her as she is officially exile from her own people.

Siggah approaches and informs Hershel that Asubal had gone insane and is going after his son, killing everyone in is way. Brass went after him after checking on Jeq and seeing that he was so far gone mentally that he was about to die because he wouldn't do anything but cry.

He finds Asubal, but is too late to discover that he had killed numberous people, including his wife, and infected his son. Confronting him, Brass find him totally insane and nothing he could do to help him. Asubal, knowing what his friend would do, attacks him. Their fight ultimately lead to Brass reluctantly killing Asubal.

A grieved Hershel returns to the station for his departure to Earth and finds Siggah murdered and a message written with Siggah's blood on the wall saying "Come get me." Eryx was responsible for Siggah's, her father's, death and is on Earth.
