- The Mad Monk was my first encounter with the supernatural... Since that day I've approached every supernatural fight the same way. I don't expect them to go well.

Bruce Wayne is Batman, the superhero protector of Gotham City and a member of the Justice League.
History
Early in his crimefighting career, Batman fought the Mad Monk, a bloodthirsty vampire who marked the young vigilante's first encounter with a supernatural force. At some point, Batman also encountered Andrew Bennett, a vampire who sought to prevent conflict between the human and vampire races.
Andrew later contacted Batman after Mary, Queen of Blood was killed in a coup. With the vampires planning to wage war on the human race, Bennett obtained the address of Wayne Manor from Lex Luthor. Although Batman was not present at the time, Alfred Pennyworth was. Andrew left a note and a vial of Lex's blood, which Alfred presented to Batman when he returned from a meeting with the Justice League.
