Bruce Wayne is the son of the wealthy Wayne family. Orphaned at a young age, he was sent to Arkham Preparatory School, but was expelled. Returning to Gotham City, he became entangled in a sinister criminal scheme.

When Bruce was a child, he was close friends with Selina Garcia Kyle, the daughter of the Waynes' neighbors. The two were infatuated with one another, with Bruce innocently asking Selina to marry him, to which she said yes. However, the joyful times ended when the Waynes went to see Madame Butterfly. When they arrived home, they found robbers had broken into Wayne Manor. The robbers killed Bruce's parents, leaving him an orphan. Legal custody was handed over to his uncle, Alfred Dean Pennyworth, but Alfred was also grieving, and sent Bruce away to Arkham Preparatory School for Boys.

Bruce was frequently in trouble, as his acts of doing what was right put him at odds with the corrupt administration. The final incident was when he defended Richard Grayson from bullies, which earned him expulsion. Returning home, Bruce enrolled in Gotham High, where he felt out of place, due to his privileged upbringing and education.

Bruce met with Selina once again, though he initially didn't recognize her, and joined the Photography Club. After realizing she was his childhood friend, Bruce was invited to a party at The Bowery. At the party, Bruce played a gambling game with Jack Napier and his friends meant to swindle him of his money, and won the game. After another round, Bruce struck up a friendship with Jack.

The next day, a student named Harvey Dent wanted to try on Bruce's leather jacket. It was at this moment that criminals made an attempt to kidnap Bruce, and since Harvey was wearing his jacket, Harvey was taken and Bruce tranquilized. Waking up in the hospital, he was informed by Alfred of the ransom for Harvey's release, far more than the Dents could afford. While his uncle was talking to a doctor, Bruce took the medical summary and escaped the hospital.

Heading into Chinatown, Bruce searched for the name of the plant used to make the poison that tranquilized him. In the apothecary shop East Med, he managed to borrow a book from Pamela Isley, from which he learned that the plant was called Gelsemium elegans.

He met with Principal Gordon to discuss the kidnapping, and found out that surveillance footage had been sabotaged and the police weren't making much progress. Leaving the principal's office, he ran into Selina. After talking a little, Bruce entered the security room, where he found a strand of suspicious hair, which actually belonged to Selina. Later, he met up with Jack, Selina, and Barbie Gordon, where Jack explained that his friends' games was to take from the rich and give to the poor. Bruce then asked to come to the next party, hoping to see if Harvey's kidnapping was due to unsavory activity. Winning yet another seedy game, Bruce was led away by Selina and the two had a nigh of fun traveling around Gotham. In Bruce's car, they received a video of Harvey begging for his release. While Selina was distracted, Bruce took a strand of her hair, which he matched to the hair in the security room.

When Bruce tried to welcome back a scarred Harvey, the latter bitterly gave him back his jacket and made a remark about how privileged Bruce was. This angered Bruce, who told him to keep the jacket.

To find out who tried to kidnap him, Bruce decided to throw a lavish party at the Manor to lure them out. However, the plan failed when Selina was kidnapped instead. Using a location virus installed on the phones of everybody who accepted the party invite, Bruce went out into the city, but was captured. He came to and then rescued Selina, who was locked in the same room as him. While recuperating in the Manor, Bruce and Selina had a heart-to-heart, culminating in them getting intimate. However, Bruce felt remorseful, as Jack also had romantic feelings for Selina. He offered to give Selina the money to help her Alzheimer-stricken father, but she coldly rejected the offer.

When Bruce saw Jack taking pictures of Selina in the middle of the night, he began to suspect his friend of being the culprit. Heading to the Dents' house, he found out from Harvey more details about the kidnappers and was told to stay away from Jack, as he resembled on of the goons. Heading back to East Med to return the book, Bruce was told by Pamela that Gelsemium elegans was bought by Jack, when it was actually Selina. This drove a divide in between the two, which was further compounded when Bruce found out from Principal Gordon that Jack's friends, the Pranksters, were a con ring. On a field trip to the Gotham Natural History Museum, Bruce confronted Jack and nearly had a fight until Selina told both of them to be mature, and ran off. This prompted Bruce and Jack to reconcile.

The next day, Bruce received a social media story from Selina expressing her desire to kill herself. Running to the roof of a building, he found out that Selina was the mastermind behind the entire scheme. After mocking both him and Jack, Selina jumped off the roof into the river. This prompted a fight between Bruce and Jack, and when the latter came to his senses, it was too late, and their relationship was permanently shattered. Afterward, Bruce became a loner once again, brushing off Barbie's attempts at socializing.

Bruce was last seen about to see Die Walküre with Alfred, but not before noticing that the Garcia Kyles had moved away.[1]
