Bruce Wayne is the former vigilante known as "Batman" who eventually became a vampire.

History

Bruce Wayne was a vigilante on Earth-43 known as the "Batman". He fell in love with Talia al Ghul, the daughter of the vampire Ra's al Ghul, who was the leader of the Guild of Assassins and also known as "Dracula". Wanting to take power from her father, she manipulated Batman and secretly created a son she named "Damien". Though she intended to use him as a weapon against her father, Damien became attached to Batman's ideals after being allowed to train with him.

Damien took the name "Robin" while living with Bruce, but his father was turned into a bloodthirsty vampire while defeating Ra's. Batman managed to initially control his hunger and used it to wage his war on criminals, but he eventually succumbed to the bloodlust and killed the Joker. The disease turned him into a monster and he became feared by humans. Traumatized by what happened to his father, his son turned into an enemy of all vampires, while another of Batman's lovers Catwoman died. Bruce eventually established his new lair at a place which came to be known as the "House of Mystery", because anyone who went there never returned.

Many years later when Brainiac of Earth-43 tried to take over the Multiverse, he sent Two-Face of Earth-17 in search for artefacts that could help him defeat the Monitor Nix Uotan and take over Nil. The Harbinger in order to convince Batman of Earth-0 that she was fighting Two-Face, took him to Earth-19.

The Justice League of Earth-0 soon came to Gotham City in search of Batman after learning from Alfred Pennyworth about his disappearance, and Cyborg learnt that the energy signatures in the shop Batman was in before disappearing were of an interdimensional gateway into the Bleed. After he opened another such gateway, Zatanna tried to trace Batman, but instead found the Nightmare Batman of Earth-43. As he assaulted them, the Flash attempted to fight him but was eventually smashed away. This however gave Zatanna and Cyborg enough of a distraction to knock him back to his world through the Bleed.

Vandal Savage of Earth-19 came to Earth-43 sometime later and convinced Batman to protect the Earth Engine he needed to use to turn the Multiverse's inhabitants against the Monitor and take over Nil. Damien, who had agreed to help the Monitor in protecting the Multiverse, came to Earth-43 with his new allies: Hawkgirl of Earth-19 and Batman of Earth-0, in search of the Earth Engines. They were however soon assaulted by Dhampyre bats and Batman of Earth-0 used ultrasound to make them flee. Robin warned them to stop it, but they were soon confronted by the Nightmare Batman.

Hawkgirl was injured while fighting the vampiric Batman, and Batman of Earth-0 told Robin to look after her while he fought him alone. The vampire soon overpowered Batman, but Robin came to his rescue and fought his father. Hawkgirl used the distraction to knock out the vampire temporarily with her Nth Metal mace, but Robin revealed he couldn't be defeated by physical attacks. Batman then decided to escape back to Earth-19 with them, since they had already discovered an Earth Engine.

Damien and his allies soon managed to defeat Savage, but they had to contend with another challenge as the most powerful wave of Infinite Crisis struck, with realities being torn asunder and cast adrift into the Bleed. This resulted in Gotham of Earth-19 and Gotham of Earth-0, which were cast adrift into the Bleed, to be merged together. Batman of Earth-43 decided to join the other champions in order to fight back against the new threat endangering the multiverse.
