Batman is the vigilante protector of Gotham City, whose entire career was uprooted when his archnemesis Jack Napier regained his sanity and swayed public opinion as Gotham's White Knight. Batman was convinced it was a long play by the Joker, which drove him away from his closest friends and allies.
