- Brute was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, first appearing in Sandman #1. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Brute first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Bug! The Adventures of Forager #1 by Lee Allred and Michael Allred.
