The Burtonverse is the setting of the Batman films produced between 1989 and 1997, beginning with Tim Burton's Batman. It is the home of Batman and various metahumans, whom he battles in his war on crime in Gotham City.
History
It is heavily implied that certain events canon to the Burtonverse also happened in other realities:
- Arrowverse: Earth-89: Named as Earth-89, the Burtonverse was briefly revisited during the Arrowverse crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths in 2019. In the Pre-Crisis timeline, the Joker is still alive.[1] After the Crisis, it is the setting of Batman and Batman Returns;[2] according to Batman '89 artist Joe Quinones and writer Sam Hamm, Batman '89 and, as a consequence, its sequel Batman '89: Echoes also take place on Earth-89.
- Arrowverse: Earth-97: Like Earth-89, it is a reality of the Arrowverse Multiverse that is the setting of Batman and Robin and Batman Forever, according to Crisis Aftermath.[3]
- Earth 789: A reality of the Post-Flashpoint Multiverse[4] in which events of Earth-89 and the Donnerverse apparently coexist.[5]
- DC Extended Universe: Flashpoint: Another reality in which certain events of Earth-89 were also canon did temporarily exist as a new timeline of the DC Extended Universe, created when the Flash went back in time to save his mother only to be cancelled from existence when Allen fixed the timeline.[6]
- The Catwoman movie also features a photograph of Selina Kyle among the predecessors of Patience Phillips. However, the exact significance of this for continuity is uncertain as of now.

Notes
- Batman's statement that "this is why Superman works alone" implies the existence of a Superman in the same universe, though no details are known about him. Tim Burton had intended to direct Superman Lives before pulling out of the project. This Superman later appeared in The Flash.
