The Idiot was a gestalt creature created by the merging of four minds using a drug called the idiot root.
History
The Idiot (a creature of the Id) was formed when four psychics were linked by a scientist named Crosby and injected with a drug called the idiot root. Of the four, Caesar Lopez, a Cordon Bleu trained chef, was the dominant personality. The creature wished to be real, and needed to devour minds in order to reach its goal. One mind it devoured was the serial killer Queen of Hearts, leaving her, like all of its victims, in a zombie like state.[1]
Batman traveled to the ruins where Crosby conducted his experiments, and entered the "Idiot Zone." Confronting the Idiot there, he was led to believe he defeated him and escaped. Batman later realized he was still trapped in the zone, eventually escaping.[2] By this time, the Idiot had evolved, and was now able to manifest by exploding out of the skulls of anyone he'd "zombified." The Idiot was destroyed when Batman realized his dominant personality, Caesar Lopez, was afraid of the vengeance of all the birds he killed while a chef. The birds devoured the Idiot, destroying him.[3]

- Psychic Nails - The Idiot's main weapon were his elongated fingernails, which he stuck into the skulls of his victims, draining them of thought.
