Capt. Storm (Volume 1) with a cover date of June, 1964.
Synopsis for "Killer Hunt"
Lt. Storm, the captain of the PT-47 was in the middle of a battle in the South Pacific during World War II against the Imperial Japanese Navy. The PT-47 was about to collide with a Japanese submarine and the boat's engines were not functioning. The submarine rammed into the PT-47 and the crew jumped off of the ship, with Lt. Storm injuring his leg. Before the captain could sink, one of the PT-47 crew members dove down and rescued him as Japanese sailors fired a machine gun at the American sailors.
The captain and Buddy attempted to take cover with the latter getting killed by the Japanese. Then, Lt. Storm swam to the Japanese submarine and suggested that they kill him as well, but instead, the Japanese left him behind. Suddenly, Lt. Storm woke up in an infirmary and realized that he had dreamt the same dream again. He vowed to hunt down the Japanese submarine who killed his men. He unsuccessfully attempted to convince the chief to send him out into combat again and returned to his bed. Later on, Lea the nurse fit Lt. Storm with an artificial leg and the latter began training to train again. While he was surfing, the chief's daughter Jan fell into the water, but was saved by Lt. Storm.
Lt. Storm continued attempting to get approval to return to combat until he was actually allowed to do so, becoming a captain of his own PT boat (also named the PT-47). Before departing on the boat, he shared an intimate moment with Lea. When they sailed out into the ocean, a Japanese bomb almost hit them. Capt. Storm ordered the boat to stop as Japanese fighters swooped in on them.
As the fighters got closer, the crew members took out their guns and shot down the Japanese planes. Next, the PT boat crew sailed more until they encountered a Japanese destroyer and sunk it with a torpedo. Afterwards, they eventually encountered the submarine that had sunk the PT-47. Capt. Storm ordered the PT boat to ram into the submarine, causing it to submerge, however, creating a vortex that caused a crew member to go under and Capt. Storm to save him. Then, they decided to return to their base to repair and refuel.
