Synopsis for "Capt. Atom Goes to War!"

Captain Atom is attacking government and rebel forces in a Central American nation in an attempt to forcefully end their war, but doing it non-lethally as he is focus on disarming both sides by destroying or taking away their weapons.

Meanwhile, General Eiling confronts his rival Amanda Waller and is displeased from learning that she was granted governmental authorization to sanctioning Nightshade to bring in Captain Atom. But he could do nothing to prevent Waller from already having meddle in his affairs.

The fallout of Captain Atom's actions is also affecting JLI benefactor Maxwell Lord, who is getting multiple phone calls from concerned international dignitaries.

Captain Atom, while in his human form, is ambush by Plastique, who straps a bomb collar to his neck. Nathaniel negotiate Plastique that his cause is just by showing her a pit where he has been gathering all the American and Soviet-made weapons there. He reason that with the war participants completely left defenseless, then warfare will no longer be a viable solution. Thus the two sides would only be force to find other means to work out their differences and peace will be found.

Plastique is moved by Nathaniel's goal and she and Nathaniel fall into a passionate embrace. But the moment quickly ends when Plastique finds Nathaniel attempting to grab the key to the bomb collar. Just as Plastique put Nathaniel into a chokehold, Nightshade appears and covers their entire area in darkness. Plastique finds herself no match fighting the shadow-user in the dark and she is forced to deactivate Captain Atom's bomb collar. Captain Atom tries to prevent the women from fighting each other until all three hears the growing sounds of fighting.

They trace the sounds to a guerrilla camp where guerrillas and rebels are still fighting each other, but with their fists, tools, clubs and whatever they have in their hands. Captain Atom's efforts to stop the war and bring peace has been all for naught: no matter how many weapons he disarmed, people will still find ways to end war in their own terms. Captain Atom dejectedly watch his well-intention plans unfold while Plastique takes this opportunity to make her escape unnoticed.

Captain Atom finally turn himself to Nightshade and they fly away back to America.
