Synopsis for "Call of Duty"
A monster crosses into Lenox, Washington from Oregon. The strange being is mocked by some children as it passes by. A police officer approaches to offer assistance, but the monster attacks and consumes him.
Elsewhere, Captain Atom recalls his time four years previous as a pilot at Mountain Home Air Force Base. At Winslow Air Force Base, General Eiling demands Captain Atom fall inline as an officer and follow the chain of command, telling him that he is a super weapon that will keep America on top. The time is "260:16:28:50 Year 6574"
Captain Atom balks at the idea of being another "Atomic Bomb" for them. General Eiling then attempts to quarantine Captain Atom by bombarding him with a fluctuating energy, believing that Captain Atom would be paralyzed by having to focus all his effort on maintaining his form. Captain Atom declares that he doesn't need food, water, oxygen, or sleep, and that he has "decided" not to be captured. Not taking "no" for an answer, General Eiling calls for an attack on Captain Atom, okaying an air strike against him. Captain Atom uses his powers to transform the fighter jets into feathers, and the bullets from the soldiers prove ineffective.
General Eiling's attack on Captain Atom was precipitated by his actions nine days previous on "251:00:43:45 Year 6574" at Continuum. Captain Atom discussed his feelings of alienation with Ranita when her hand began to glow red and shrivelled. Ranita screamed in pain as Captain Atom watched in horror.
At the same time in Lenox, a travelling family pulls into a diner for some grub. Upon entering they discover that the diner has been infested by the now much larger monster.
