Synopsis for "Man or Monster"
The time is "252:06:45:23 Year 6574". Captain Atom regrets his accidental burning of Ranita Carter's hand; and goes to comfort her. He would have teleported to her bedside, but is confronted by Dr Alexander over the danger Atom's unstable nature poses to others.
Doctor Megala reveals that General Eiling has been erroneously tracking Captain Atom's energy signature to Lenox, Washington. Atom departs for Lenox.
Doctors Alexander and Megala continue to discuss their take on Captain Atom. Megala's trust stems from a sense of responsibility; whereas Alexander's mistrust stems from a place of theological terror.
In Washington, Captain Atom remains invisible and evades General Eiling's cordon. He finds a misshapen diner, and realizes that the building itself is alive. Atom probes the creature and realizes that it is composed of the towns people and attacks it with a quantum blast. The creature feeds on the energy and grows stronger, in way that is very familiar to Atom.
