Captain Marvel, Jr. #100 is an issue of the series Captain Marvel, Jr. (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1951.
Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. and Sivana's Jr.'s Cold War"
A registrar at the University where Prof. Edgewise teaches is signing up a student for one of his classes… only to find it’s Sivana, Jr.! He claims perfect innocence and that he just wants to attend classes and learn from the renowned Prof. Edgewise. Later, at Mrs. Wagner’s, Prof. Edgewise has “misplaced” his glasses (which are just on his head) and Freddy Freeman him with them. He notes that now he can check an exam paper from his most promising new student, Sivana, Jr., stunning Freddy. Instead of telling Prof. Edgewise that he’s a criminal, he tails Sivana, Jr. as Freddy, finding he seems to be living a normal student life, even cheering at their football games and joining the debate team. On a later evening, Freddy finds Sivana, Jr. getting tossed via a large sheet into a lake as a hazing initiation. Freddy finds out Sivana, Jr. can’t swim and calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr. He manages to drag him out of the water and push him over a broken tree to help him get the water out of his lungs. Sivana, Jr. again insists that he just wants to learn from his new idol, Prof. Edgewise, and Junior accepts his change… for now.
Some days later, Freddy finds Prof. Edgewise confused as he thinks he hasn’t finished his dinner (as he’s eating it) and then figures out if he didn’t forget to eat dinner, then he forgot to finish a new important experiment he’s working on. Prof. Edgewise puts on a green hat and Freddy decides to go with him so he doesn’t forget on his way there. On the way there, Prof. Edgewise already forgets what it is he invented, but says he’ll be able to see it when he sees his notes. However, when they head in, Sivana, Jr. clocks them both with a Bunsen burner when he hears them enter. Freddy wakes up, as usual, bound and gagged on the floor, but this time, Sivana, Jr. laughs at how he’s stealing Prof. Edgewise’s new experiment and admits that he is smarter than him, but he will soon use his science for evil, dumping oil on some papers and lighting it aflame to burn down his lab. Freddy manages to grab a stool with his feet and whip it into the window behind him and cuts his gag off with the broken glass, calling CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr. and drags the Professor to safety seconds before the lab explodes, but finds he still can’t remember just what his invention actually is before he finally recalls it’s “Electrically Insulated Dust!” Junior realizes what this means, but at that moment Sivana, Jr. drops a box of the Dust into a volcano with a fuse to an atomic explosive that will cause the World’s Biggest Explosion and doom the Earth itself and make the world accept him as “Rightful Prince of the Universe!”
Captain Marvel, Jr. soon figures out that the dust being carried on the wind will now blot out the sun, creating a new Ice Age that he finds is freezing South Seas natives. He flies to a nearby Judson Bay Fur Co. ship and flies it to them to help trade them for pearls so the native people don’t freeze to death in this new and horrifying climate. He starts going around to collect a massive amount of firewood, clears towns buried in snow and finds that, strangely, Mrs. Wagner’s Boarding House is still fine. He returns to being Freddy to get some sleep at night, but finds that by morning, it’s now dark and freezing there too. What’s more, he finds that with the dust in the air, calling CAPTAIN MARVEL is useless as the dust is also blocking lightning from getting through (even the magic kind!) Heading downstairs, he finds Mrs. Wagner has made tea for everyone and Red and Prof. Edgewise are freezing. She says that the radio said trucks can’t bring them fuel now and Prof. Edgewise says that this is similar to the eruption of Krakatoa in 1883, causing a Little Ice Age the world over. Suddenly, Sivana, Jr. comes on the radio to announce that he’ll only stop the cold if he’s named Prince of the Universe and Freddy is confounded that he can’t transform now. Thus, Freddy gears up in warm clothing and heads out to brave the cold. Thus, he decides to head to Shazam’s Secret Subway Station to try to consult him about it and helps an elderly lady on the way there by giving her his coat. Freddy starts to freeze when some snow falls off a roof and finds he can’t move his limbs anymore. In his pocket, he finds that Mrs. Wagner gave him a thermos of hot tea and it gives him the strength he needs to get to the subway. However, before he can, he passes out again and his crutch snaps. Unconscious in the freezing cold, Freddy Freeman lays still...
Soon ships are stranded in the ocean due to heavy icebergs forming, glaciers are rolling into snowbound cities and Sivana, Jr. is more than fine due to an Atomic Heating Plant that keeps him warm. The UN radios him and says they’re willing to once again award him the title of “Prince of the Universe” ad he sits on a big throne he made for himself. Freddy Freeman, meanwhile, is unconscious when the stone steps under him break from the bitter cold and falls down into the Secret Subway Station. He wakes up near the Seven Deadly Sins of Man and struggles to light the magic brazier and summon the Wizard Shazam. Shazam, now wearing green, whisks him away to the peak of the Rock of Eternity and he calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr. once more. Meanwhile, Sivana, Jr. presents the UN with a list of 14,197,633 people he specifically wants to have beheaded and the UN point out he hasn’t stopped the Glacial Age he started yet. Sivana, Jr. soon activates his Magneto-Funnel, which he says will activate “turbo-generators” that will drag the dust out of the atmosphere in minutes. He is soon alack to find it isn’t working and the UN prepare to start beating him violently and steal his clothes. Sivana, Jr., wearing only a union suit, is pelted with snowballs as he runs away, swearing vengeance. Moments later, Junior arrives and looks over the Magneto-Funnel and finds that it wasn’t working due to the gears having an icicle stuck in them. The dust is pulled out of the air and Junior soon finds Sivana, Jr. happy that the Sun is coming out again and drags him to jail. Later, Prof. Edgewise is trying to still figure out how to stop the Electrically Insulated Dust, not realizing it’s over already and Sivana, Jr. is back in reform school.
