Captain Marvel, Jr. #45 is an issue of the series Captain Marvel, Jr. (Volume 1) with a cover date of December, 1946.
Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. and the Return of the Acrobat!"
The man known as “The Acrobat” is still in prison ever since having a Moonitis outbreak that led to him strangling several people and committing at least one payroll robbery. He still asserts to his prison guards that he has no memory of doing any of this and his window has been boarded over so he isn’t exposed to moonlight anymore. The guard says the only thing that’ll save him from getting the chair is Dr. Miller recommending he be confined to the State Hospital. Desperate and wild, the Acrobat tears the boards open and lets the moonlight in, but it unleashes his full power, letting him tear open the bars to his window and climbs out to go kill Dr. Miller before he can be committed. He somehow changes into his Acrobat uniform and escapes by leaping the prison wall. Meanwhile, Dr. Miller is meeting with Freddy Freeman, who is going to “find” Captain Marvel, Jr. for him. While he’s calling CAPTAIN MARVEL in another room, the Acrobat sneaks into Dr. Miller’s window and throws him into his own fireplace to prove he’s not crazy! When Junior arrives though, he leaps out the window and they find another full moon is out. The Acrobat hides out in a watchman’s hut and strangles Dwyer the Watchman when he comes in. Two cops come looking for Dwyer, so he climbs a piece of construction equipment and legs it on to a construction skeleton. The cops trail him to the top where he can’t climb farther, but he instead leaps off on to a wrecking ball to kick the other two off. Junior manages to catch the cops and flies up, but taking a wrecking ball to the knee is nothing for the World’s Mightiest Boy, who instead punches him off of it and drags him to the asylum for when Dr. Miller’s report is ready…

Synopsis for Captain Marvel, Jr.: "A One Man Show"
Freddy Freeman is out with “Livewire” Larry Davis, the narcoleptic reporter who are at the theater to watch the Big 3 (Harry, Garry and Barry), and Golden Arrow in the film Silver Dust. Backstage, the Big 3 are constantly fighting enough that their manager says they’re through if they don’t go on together that night. Larry wakes up after the show doesn’t start. Harry is the only one willing to come out and play the piano, but when he does, he suddenly jolts forward, hits his head on a chair and dies. Garry and Barry are immediately accusatory that the other is responsible. The two fighting activate a chandelier lever, dropping it and forcing Freddy to call CAPTAIN MARVEL to stop it as Captain Marvel, Jr. Garry goes out to try his trademark slapstick by walking on his hands over a stage of banana peels, only to fall into a giant set of spears just offstage! The manager grimly sends out Barry to tell some jokes, only for Junior to find he’s been given the hot-foot. Junior helps him and finds that he had dynamite caps on the soles of his shoes which would explode and kill Barry, which he hugs tight to explode it harmlessly. Junior investigates backstage and finds the other spears are made of paper, so someone must have set up a real one to kill him. What’s more, the blood from Garry being stabbed is also fake. Soon enough, Garry dashes along the catwalk and scarpers into an alley with his things, but Junior punches him out at the bottom of the fire escape. Larry wakes up to having missed everything and Junior says that, once again, he’s written the article for him so he’ll get the scoop at the Daily Star.

Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Icy Fingers!"
“Blackheart” Snarl is a grouchy banker who hates children having fun and throwing snow at them. When Freddy doesn’t answer fast enough to why he didn’t stop the children, Snarl shoves him with his cane and decides to assault a snowman in anger. However, when he kicks it, it hurts his foot and Freddy thinks it does serve him right… but also tells the kids not to throw snowballs at him. Freddy hears an ambulance come by and skids on the snow, hydroplaning wildly into the children. Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL and becomes Captain Marvel, Jr. and dumps a doctor’s bag all over the street. Junior finds that the doctor has lost one of his life-giving drugs, Sulphazipemup, which hits the snowman. The doctor finds that there is more in the ambulance and leaves it alone. Freddy soon returns to peddling papers. That night, someone kills Snarl in his bed and the police find his butler said that he was attacked by “icy fingers” according to Snarl’s final words before he died, but they find no fingerprints on his neck, despite him being strangled. Soon, the kids report to Freddy that their snowman is missing, so he calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Junior again. He finds that he seemingly walked away from his spot and starts to follow them. Nearby, a cop named Cassidy is guarding the Snarl place finds that the Sulphazipemup has done something amazing, brought a snowman to life and also one that kills! He finds shooting at a snowman isn’t very effective before it starts strangling him. Junior flies in to find the Snowman attacking people and is forced to punch its head off… only to find that it doesn’t need a head to keep trying to strangle policemen. Junior flies off to get a large metal rod for glass-blowing and superheats it to then melt the Snowman. The cops are still generally baffled. Freddy writes in his diary about it and watches more snow fall, hoping it doesn’t come to life and kill anyone.

Trivia
- Despite the cover, Captain Marvel, Jr. doesn't fight some sort of icy spirit that looks like an old man. Instead, he fights a murderous snowman brought to life by a medical supply spill that resembles a normal standing man.
