Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. and the Hunt for Treasure"

Pirates bury treasure to retrieve later, though instead they leave two men there to guard it (instead of telling no tales.) However, these are modern day pirates and their “Captain” is actually a rich man, Van Reed, who does this for fun on weekends. He soon visits his friend, Dr. Donald, saying that his heart is now too weak for him to continue his fake piracy and that he buried a chest of his precious jewels on the deserted Rock Island nearby that afternoon. He’s going to invite a few friends to go out and search for it. He turns over a guest list to Dr. Donald and goes to take a nap. His chauffeur has heard everything as well. The next day, a mail carrier hands one of these invitations to Freddy Freeman at 8:30pm and learns every gets to wear pirate costumes. Later that night, everyone heads to Van Reed’s ship and change into pirates costumes while the chauffeur, Jim, tells two goons that his crazy old pirate millionaire boss buried his jewels on Rock Island for their taking. Soon after, Freddy has an aggressively blue outfit and soon spots a second pirate ship and he and friends assume that Van Reed either has pirating friends or he’s hired rival pirates for them to compete against. They wave amiably to them until the goons fire an old cannonball at them. Some of the men start jumping ship, not remembering that they’re in the middle of nowhere! Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr. and picks the people out of the water and takes them back to their ship. The World’s Mightiest Boy flies the ship out of the water and takes them to the mainland. Meanwhile, James and his goon friend Westy arrive and threaten the others to find out where the treasure is and dig it up quick. Junior flies back to find the pirates’ ship and soon lands on it after sunset, returning to being Freddy. However, they almost immediately discover him and Westy punches him in the head. He wakes up bound and gagged and is ordered to walk the plank. Freddy recognizes that one of the pirates sounds like James the Chauffeur and falls off the plank, but slips his gag on the end of it, letting him call CAPTAIN MARVEL. Captain Marvel Junior soon proves to have a chest that cutlasses bend against and he points out their chins feel like paper against his fists until they eventually give up. Later, Van Reed decides to give all the money to Freddy, but Freddy says that Captain Marvel Junior won the money and doesn’t accept any for solving crimes himself, offering he give it to charity instead.

Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. and 'The Crime of Freddy Freeman'"

A rich woman, Mrs. Beale, buys an expensive necklace at Whiffany’s Jewelers for $100,000 and her husband has it sent over to her at the Drake Hotel. Mr. Whiffany is shocked to find that he forgot that the delivery boy is out that day, but Freddy Freeman is there, so he offers him the job instead. Freddy takes the necklace to the Drake Hotel where her husband, Otto Moe Beale, pays him, but Mrs. Beale suddenly pistol-whips Freddy when his back is turned! They decide that this means they have “proof” that they paid Freddy for the necklace and decide to dump him in any alleyway. Soon enough, Freddy Freeman finds out from other newsies that he’s being accused of stealing the money, since Mr. Beale showed the papers to Mr. Whiffany already and now Mr. Whiffany distrusts Freddy. Freddy quickly calls CAPTAIN MARVEL and Captain Marvel Junior promises he can clear Freddy’s name by midnight. Soon enough, he flies to the Hotel Drake and returns to being Freddy to knock on the door of the Beales, who immediately capture him and call the police, so they can also get a reward for turning him in too now. He calls CAPTAIN MARVEL once he’s in the closet and becomes Captain Marvel Junior again, breaking out and tearing open the wall safe to prove that he took back the money and the Beales are soon arrested. Junior points out that Freddy’s fingerprints are on the money and it was in the safe, meaning that they would’ve had to take it back from him like Freddy said they did. He punches Mr. Beale into Mrs. Beale and says he’s taking the necklace back to Whiffany’s. Later, Freddy is happy he’s both in the headlines and not wanted for grand theft and that Mr. Whiffany gave him a public apology.

Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. and the Truth Pen"

Freddy Freeman relaxes at home like many boring children do: with the evening edition newspaper! He finds in the Evening Press that one Mr. Jonathan Carbuncle has invented a fountain pen that only writes the truth! Freddy decides to take a look at the exhibition at Town Hall. Freddy tests it by writing “My name is Mary Marvel,” but the Mary Marvel part suddenly disappears and is replaced by the truth. The police are highly interested in using it to divine if people are lying to them or not more reliably than a lie detector. A concerned criminal named “Ocky” organizes other goons into fixing this: he’ll have “Mousey” Bradford, the slickest pickpocket in the city switch out the Truth Pen with a normal, untruthful pen. The police are baffled that they literally caught Mousey grabbing a woman’s pocketbook on the street, but Carbuncle now thinks that what the Truth Pen writes dictates the truth and it’s now impossible that Mousey stole it. They quickly figure out that they switched the pens. However, it’ll be hard to now get it back, since the first one took Carbuncle ten years to make by himself. Junior says if they post in the paper that Carbuncle is going to be able to make another Truth Pen by tomorrow, it will lure out the criminals who stole the first one. Soon enough, Ocky reads about it in the Daily Gazette that Carbuncle is cooking up another Truth Pen, so he rallies his men to go shoot him after they steal the “second Truth Pen.” Once they all rush inside to attack him though, Junior locks the door behind them and cleans house of the goons rather quickly. Junior picks the Original Truth Pen off of Ocky and forces Mousey to write that they came to “return” the pen… but the real Truth Pen makes it change to say their real plans and Junior carries them to jail.
