Captain Marvel, Jr. #69 is an issue of the series Captain Marvel, Jr. (Volume 1) with a cover date of January, 1949.

Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. Battles the Human Dynamo!"

Convicted criminal "Shocking" McGoon is sentenced to the electric chair, but unknown to his jailers, was struck by lightning once and his body's coursed with electricity ever since. This enables him to easily survive and escape once his "corpse" has been hauled way.

McGoon gets a paper from Freddy's stand to see the story on his disappearance (and murder of the driver who took his body away from the prison). To avoid paying he electrocutes Freddy, who's saved from a fatal shock by his rubber-soled shoes. Captain Marvel Jr. takes on the case, but is unable to get traction for a while because everyone knows McGoon's dead, and he's able to cover his tracks by killing the crooked doctor who agreed to sign his death warrant, the former associate who sold him out to the police, and to go after the judge who sentenced him. The latter's saved when Marvel Jr. and the police raid the judge's house, with McGoon seeming to even overwhelm the World's Mightiest Boy with his electrified touch. Marvel Jr. was only faking, and pursues McGoon, who's unafraid because he can't die in the electric chair, as he's already proven. The hero has some unpleasant news for him: their chase took them across the state line, where capital offenders get the gas chamber.

Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. and The Smart Crook"

Dummer and his partner in crime, Header, are splitting money when Header takes $5,000 for himself and only $5 for Dummer, saying that he’s the smart one and gets a bigger share. He also points a gun at Dummer, proving his point. The next morning, Freddy Freeman is going to school and Dummer meekly asks if he can join in on the school day, but when class starts, the teacher Miss Jones is visibly unnerved, especially he finds sitting down is uncomfortable due to having a revolver in his back pocket. She faints and Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr., punching Dummer over and snatching his gun away. A boy in his class revives her with a water pistol, but seeing it she screams and faints again. The Principal soon finds Dummer in the hall and orders him to his office. Dummer quickly explains everything to the Principal, but Header, who has been listening in, decides to call the cops on him with an anonymous tip. Officer Jim Bellows soon charges in and tries to arrest Dummer, but they are reticent to fire in a school and so he punches out a cop and legs it out a window. Junior hears the fracas and flies after him and arrests Dummer. Dummer finds Header was also arrested and is in the same cell, since they just tracked his call to the other room.

Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. and The Seeds of Crime!"

Freddy Freeman is peddling papers at his Newsstand when he sees a robbery at the jewelry store across the street. However, the police seem to already be there, so he decides they probably don’t need him specifically. Suddenly though, a row of gigantic daisies grow up out of the street, blocking their path! Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr., but finds that the goons are already gone. The giant flowers suddenly die out and Junior figures only one man could explain this: famed botanist Dr. Arthur Stamen. He soon finds him unconscious of the floor of his greenhouse. Dr. Stamen says that his gardener attacked him and stole fluid that makes accelerates plant growth. Since it’s still incomplete, the flowers die off very quickly. Soon enough, more goons start spreading seeds and growing it with the fluid to great a “stone wall” of incredibly tall grass. Unfortunately, while running from Captain Marvel, Jr., the bottle breaks on the ground and spills fluid everywhere. Junior reasons that the goons will go back to steal the other bottle of it that Dr. Stamen had, so he returns to being Freddy and tries to casually water his yard. However, he’s knocked out by the goons instead, waking up bound and gagged in a corner. The goons drag Dr. Stamen and Freddy out to the yard and tie them to a sapling, then dropping the fluid on the sapling, making it grow really really high where they’ll eventually plunge to their death when it dies off. However, the ropes tear when it grows thicker and Freddy tear his gag loose to call CAPTAIN MARVEL and becomes Captain Marvel, Jr. Recognizing the goons said they had ivy seeds and acetylene torch, he figures they’re pulling a jailbreak. Flying off, he punches their Boss into the wall of the prison, making him drop the ivy seeds and the fluid, which makes it restrain him in vines. Junior punches out the rest of the goons and soon says that they’d need a torch to burn something metal and ivy to climb something. Later, a blind man tries to sell Junior some flowers, but Junior says he’s had enough flowers for one day!

Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. and The Loco Locomotive" or "The Murder Train!"

Most gangsters know when to quit, but not “Big Bad” Baxter! He decides that he’s become rich enough to retire from crime and immediately drives in his new car around town. However, he soon finds himself furious with bad drivers in New York City. Nearby, Freddy Freeman gets a ride from Deliveryman Joe and sees Baxter get rear-ended by a surly truck driver who insists that this is Baxter’s fault. Freddy quickly calls CAPTAIN MARVEL when the two men come to blows and shoves himself between them, making them both hurt their hands accidentally hitting him. Officer Jim Bellows arrives, so Junior decides he’s not needed just now and leaves it to him. Later, Freddy sees Officer Jim at his Newsstand and the ruminating Baxter decides he’ll get his revenge soon enough…

Days later, Officer Jim recalls the fender-bender and notices that there’s a full locomotive on the street, but decides that it’s likely just an ad for the new movie playing at the Avon Theater: The Murder Train. Unfortunately, it isn’t; Baxter just stole a locomotive and is driving it through traffic. He remarks loudly how he spent a ton of money specifically making a street-driving train so he can destroy other cars around him. Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to have Junior settle this out and Baxter finds he can’t run over the World’s Mightiest Boy, who boxes his boiler and destroys the entire train. A stunned Baxter is arrested and Jim is astonished to find that he’s caught infamous criminal “Big Bad” Baxter on a traffic violation, but he’s going to definitely be in jail for a long time!
