Synopsis for "The Finish of Mr. Finish"
A Mr. Duckett comes to Station WHIZ trying to get Captain Marvel's help. He's just had a proclamation of doom from his doctor, that Duckett has barely twenty-four hours to live. As soon as he left Duckett found himself being tailed by a sinister man identifying himself as Mr. Finish. This Finish follows them to Duckett's house, where Billy becomes Captain Marvel and shoves the stalker into Duckett's inescapable bomb shelter. Duckett tries to buy his stalker off, but the only currency Mr. Finish will consider is lives. Despite having Finish at his mercy, Duckett agrees to trade lives for his own and brings over several people he hates, who die when they shake hands with Mr. Finish through the door's opening.
The next morning Billy Batson makes the baffling news report that during Mr. Finish's time spent as Duckett's captive, not a single person in the world has died, aside from Duckett's visitors. He pays a visit as Captain Marvel and saves Duckett from sacrificing his butler, but in the process Marvel shakes hands with Mr. Finish himself. His terrible power is enough to even overpower Marvel's divine physique, aging him into an old man and Marvel being unable to pull free (but knocking down the door and freeing Mr. Finish while trying). By the time Marvel's pried his hand loose and recovered strength, Duckett and Mr. Finish are gone.
Duckett tries to blow up a bus with a grenade to get Mr. Finish the lives he wants so he'll leave. Marvel catches the explosive in his hands where it goes off with no damage. In a last desperate bid to escape his fate, Duckett boards a plane, smashes a bottle on the pilot's head so the passengers and Mr. Finish will all die in the crash, and bails out. Billy happens to be on the plane and transforms in time to set it down with no loss of life. No loss of life except Duckett, who dies at exactly the appointed time. Mr. Finish walks off with his victim, but promises someday he'll be back for Captain Marvel.
