Synopsis for "The Man Who Never Saw Captain Marvel"

Florist John Crane is blind, but has learned to compensate for it by relying more on his hearing. Such as hearing a telephone about to crack, allowing Billy Batson to transform and catches it before it can fall on anyone. Cranes realizes because of his blindness he's the only person who didn't see Captain Marvel in action, and wonders if he's more like a brawny circus strongman, or a bird-man because Marvel can fly at super-sonic speeds. That night, some bank robbers knock Crane aside as they flee with their ill-gotten gains, not worried about him identifying them because they know about his blindness. The next morning, Billy finds Crane's closed his shop and is instead standing on a busy street corner, listening for a car that makes the distinctive collection of sounds the bank robbers' car did, along with occupants' voices that match theirs. This actually does happen, and the robbers, seeing Crane identifying them to someone, try to shoot him as they drive by. Billy transforms and captures them, again leaving Crane despairing that he missed the great hero in action. However, Marvel flies him to a hospital where Crane undergoes an operation to cure his condition, paid for by the reward money for capturing the two thieves. When Marvel comes by to check on Crane later, he brings along a mugger he apprehended on the way over, so Crane can finally see what it's like when Captain Marvel punches out a criminal!
