Synopsis for "The Curse of the Scorpion"

A two-page text story retelling the first chapter of the film serial "Adventures of Captain Marvel (1941 Serial)."

Billy Batson is a reporter accompanying an archeological expedition to a remote region of Siam, where they uncover an ancient tomb where the greatest treasure of the Scorpion Dynasty is found, a golden scorpion idol whose lenses contain great power. By accidentally channeling light through them the expedition causes a cave-in. The wizard Shazam appears to Billy and grants him the powers of a collection of mythical heroes to become Captain Marvel. The expedition is attacked by hostile natives on their way to safety, and Billy changes to Captain Marvel for the first time to fight them off. In the course of the battle the secretary of the expedition's leader falls to her certain doom. The reader is told to visit the theater to see what happens next.
