Synopsis for "The Monster Society of Evil, Chapter 19: The Black Death Ray"

Captain Marvel appears to have been vaporized by Mr. Mind's Black Death Ray, but it only melted the floor under his feet and dropped him into the basement. When he comes after Mr. Mind and the Crocodile Man Sylvester, they use the ray on a plane in flight, destroying everything but the pilot. Marvel saves him in time but the villains escape.

They try to kill Billy Batson by having Sylvester and another henchman named Marmaduke pretend to take a souvenir photo of Billy, then fire the Black Death Ray. Billy realizes what's going on and changes to Marvel, then knocks out Sylvester and Marmaduke. Mr. Mind tricks the hero into squishing an ordinary caterpillar instead of him. Marvel sings out his magic word, jubilant that he's finally destroyed his archenemy. The villains recover and capture Billy, then to silence him, they weld a metal brace over his mouth.

Mr. Mind then tries to use his Black Death Ray on a pair of men, but it only vaporizes some coins in their hands, and the evil worm realizes with dismay that his ray is useless against anything not made of metal. Hearing that, Billy tries to get over to the ray to get his mouth brace off. Sylvester sees what he's trying, pulls a gun and fires.
