This gets Slick fired by his boss for such unscrupulous reporting. Coming up with a dastardly plan, Slick uses the camera to determine where Captain Marvel, along with local official and most of St. Paul's police, will be at the Super Speedway at 5 PM. He proposes to gang boss Leadpipe Malone they take advantage of this absence of law enforcement to rob the First National Bank. Synopsis for "The Monster Society of Evil, Chapter 21: The Unholy Hydra"

Headlines proclaim Mr. Mind's demise, but Captain Marvel accidentally wrecked the printing press before he was smashed. Safe in a secret lab, the evil worm brings a monster to life to carry out a new plan. When it turns out to be a simple-minded fool, he beheads it. To his surprise, this causes the original head to immediately grow back along with a second head, that of an angry dog. Mr. Mind compares this to the hydra of ancient Greek myth. He takes his monster out to steal a secret weapon invented by a nearby scientist.

In the street, they encounter Billy Batson, who transforms and attacks Mr. Mind's new monster. Punching off the dog head causes it to grow back along with a wolf's head. Slipping away from Marvel, they infiltrate the scientist's house, but the monster's idiotic head pushes an alarm button that causes police to storm the house. One of them shoots off a head and a dragon's head joins the others. Tailing Mr. Mind and the hydra into a butcher's shop, Captain Marvel throws a side of beef at it. The hydra's multiple heads all start fighting over the meat, and end up tearing themselves to pieces. Marvel's theory was correct: if the monster could recover from even his attacks, the only thing could destroy it was itself.

He changes back to Billy to hand Mr. Mind over the authorities, but suddenly a criminal climbs in through the window and coldcocks Billy.
