The ape goes after the last doctor who drummed out Groon, and is once again caught by Captain Marvel. This time another mask comes off, revealing it's just been Dr. Groon masquerading as a killer ape the whole time. It was done because if people thought Groon was dead, he could exact his revenge and disappear to start over somewhere else without a manhunt for him ensuing. One the air, Billy explains Captain Marvel figured it out because Groon had been run out of the business for being a quack. Therefore, he couldn't really be a genius brain surgeon.
