Carl Walters was a soldier who gained the nickname Gravedigger while spending time in the Metal Men as their computer hacker and communication expert.

History

Later, after the Metal Men disbanded, he became an operative of the secret organization Nightwing working underneath Deadman. Walters faked his defection from Nightwing in order to lead a band of rogue Nightwing agents called Night Force and manipulating them to unknowingly serve in Nightwing's interests.
