Carter Hall (Absolute Universe)

Carter Hall is Hawkman, a former superhero turned government assassin who kills anyone who may upset the status quo at the behest of Veronica Cale.

History

Origin

Darkseid created the Absolute Universe to be a world where heroes were the underdogs, and lacked the advantages of their Earth 0 counterparts. A major part of this was erasing the legacy of the Golden Age of heroes which inspired them. Throughout the mid-20th Century whenever a masked adventurer or mystery man rose up they would be swiftly dealt with by the powers that be, and are long forgotten by the present day.

In 1951, Hawkman and several other heroes were called before the Un-American Activities Committee. The hard right-wing Carter Hall not only voluntarily unmasked but also informed on several of his fellows who he believed to be Communist infiltrators. He became an agent of the government, and over the decades was sent to kill anyone who threatened to act outside of the established order. In 2025, he murdered Oliver Queen, a disillusioned billionaire who had decided to become a vigilante in disgust at his fellow oligarch's depravity.^[1]

Hawkman confronted Superman in the stratosphere, where the young hero was screaming in rage and frustration.^[2]

Decelerated Aging: Hawkman was active in 1951, and is still carrying out missions in 2025. Despite his advanced chronological age he was able to overpower and kill the much younger Oliver Queen seemingly without much trouble. Based on his heavily bandaged appearance, it is likely that extensive medical treatments have been used to extend his life and vitality.^[1]
