Carter Hall was an archaeologist and the superhero known as "Hawkman", who was cursed to reincarnation after every death.
History
Carter had been cursed to reincarnation after every death in a past life. He eventually became an archaeologist as well as the superhero known as "Hawkman", who could fly using Nth Metal armor and wings. In 1942, he and his wife Shiera Hall went to Egypt in order to find a tomb of an ancient Egyptian queen. By luck, Shiera would fall into the pathway leading to the tomb, and the pair came across a door. What they found inside was instead the supposed seat of the Egyptian god Apophis, as well as the Amulet of Apophis and a helm on a mummy.
Immediately, Carter expressed discomfort at the mummified remains and advised his wife to leave, but Shiera had been lured in by the Lords of Chaos into taking the helm and amulet, before flying away under their control. Carter chased after her after strapping on his Nth metal armor and caught up to her near El Alamein, where the second battle to take the town was going on between the Allies and the Axis forces.
After a fight, Carter tried to reason with his wife. The dumbfounded Axis soldiers under the command of Dirk Strasser however took advantage of his distraction and fired at him. This caused Shiera to briefly snap into a rage and kill most of the soldiers in their vicinity. Carter would use this opportunity to remove the helm from his wife, allowing her to remove the amulet as well. Carter however died to due wounds, and reincarnated as Katar Hol in the next life.[1]

- Carter Hall was created by Gardner Fox and Dennis Neville, first appearing in Flash Comics #1. However, the Injustice version of Carter Hall first appeared in Injustice: Year Zero #3 by Tom Taylor and Cian Tormey.
