CatCo Worldwide Media -as well known as just "CatCo"- is a multimedia business of National City, created by Cat Grant after quitting her job in the Daily Planet.

History

When Cat Grant left National City, she made James Olsen the company's new CEO. When Morgan Edge tried to buy CatCo, Lena Luthor bought it first, and became active in the company. Eventually, Lena sold it to Andrea Rojas, as part of her plan to hurt Kara Danvers/Supergirl. Andrea turned CatCo into a sensational gossip newspaper and to promote Obsidian North.[1]

Eventually, Kara was called by Andrea, who was upset that she was missing work, and Kara decided to leave CatCo to have more time to be Supergirl. Andrea later sold CatCo back to Cat Grant, but leaving the company without an editor-in-chief. So Cat decided to give Kara the job. Kara took the job and decided to reveal her identity to the public in an interview with Cat a few months later.[2]

Notes

  • CatCo was created for the Supergirl TV series, but was later introduced into mainstream DC Comics continuity.
  • In Prime Earth, CatCo is located at the Ordman Building.[3]
  • CatCo is depicted usually on screen as located in the real-life FourFortyFour South Flower, or Los Angeles' Citigroup Center, where National City is supposedly located in California.[4]
