Over the years...I've actually come to admire you, Lonnie. Your purity of vision. A noble belief. Misguided, certainly. You put too much trust in people to make the right decision without a system that pushes them in the right decision.
Dick steps in for a moment, like he's done before. But he's not like Bruce, is he? So he builds a life, he builds a family...In time, the circus boy does what he was always built to do. He moves on.
It's hard to imagine Bart Allen would ever betray us like this. That he would jeopardize everything we're worked so hard to create and protect. But he's just like Wally. Trying to be the perfect moral hero. Adhering to a legacy that doesn't work anymore.
When I was Robin, I met myself. The circumstances were different, but the meeting happened. I was horrified. That my future self could have fallen so far. That he would wield a gun? That he would be a killer? And still...in the end, it did nothing to stop me from becoming what I was destined to become.
If there was something I could do... something that would free me from ever having to become Batman... something terrible. Really terrible. Should I do it?
Hold on tight, Tim. As tight as you can to every moment. Because this will be over so much sooner than you can imagine.
