And just a question/concern....

What exactly are we placing in this?

There are somethings - Blindness, Restricted Mobility, Deaf, etc - that could be characterized as illnesses in some cases but also have lack a medical cause.

I don't know about subcategories, but I plan for any weakening illness to go here, like MacGregor's Disease. My thinking is, "Why make a MacGregor's Disease weakness when you could just link it to the Illness page?" --- Haroldrocks talk 21:18, March 2, 2014 (UTC)
The theory is that, at some point, one illness or another may have enough content to split it off. That would allow for a category page to describe what that illness is. - Byfield (talk) 22:14, March 2, 2014 (UTC)
Probably more than a few people with cancer out there. Or AIDS. --Tupka217 22:28, March 2, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah. I wouldn't mind having those two with separate categories. MacGregor's, since it's only, like, three people, I think is alright with being just-another-illness. --- Haroldrocks talk 22:49, March 2, 2014 (UTC)
In the case of McGregor's, it's a specific disease invented for DC. You could almost say it should have a page, maybe Item or Concept. --Tupka217 22:55, March 2, 2014 (UTC)
True. Probably Item would be my guess. But I'll leave that to you. I still have to work on the General Mills Presents: Justice League Vol 1 stuff I had planned to do this weekend but never got around to. --- Haroldrocks talk 23:08, March 2, 2014 (UTC)
Just reciting options here, we could set up the page like the Mental Illness one. It has the different forms of mental illness listed and the characters with the disability categorized right on the page. It would save us the trouble of having to decide what deserves its own category and what doesn't,... but it also has the ability to get out of hand. The Mental Illness one, itself, is pretty messy, mostly because a lot of characters who are crazy don't have a strict name for their insanity. Like I said - just an option. --- Haroldrocks talk 21:25, March 3, 2014 (UTC)
There was a suggestion in 2008 to nix that. And I agree with the suggestion - maintaining a list on the category page subverts the reason for the categories. - Byfield (talk) 22:52, March 3, 2014 (UTC)
