Catwoman (Volume 2) #85 is an issue of the series Catwoman (Volume 2) with a cover date of October, 2000.

Synopsis for "The Cat Came Back"

Ever since she kidnapped Commissioner Gordon, Carwoman has noticed an increase in police activity in the nice "deezee" neighborhoods. That, and her belief that Harley Quinn will be heading her way, drives Catwoman to search for a new apartment and maybe get "some kind of weapon."

Maria, a homeless woman, spots Selina abandoning her cat and throwing her Catwoman costume away. She scoffs at the "stupid deezee woman."

Gordon assigns the newly promoted Detective Dylan Kelly and the newly reassigned Detective Sybilla Costas, who many in the GCPD believe to be a witch, to investigate his kidnapping and arrest Catwoman. A cleaning woman listens in and smiles because she thinks Gordon is afraid to come after her himself.

Catwoman, in "another disguise," rents an apartment in a less affluent part of town. She then buys an address where she can get a weapon.

In Gigo's Auto Repairs, she gets caught in a gunfight between an ex-marine called the Banner and a pusher/singer named Fluffy Meeks. Catwoman is shot in the arm, but she steals Fluffy's car and an automatic. She drives away.

In the Cyber Cup Cafe, Costas uses a computer program that allows her to read tarot cards and gets a lead on Catwoman. She asks Kelly if he remembers a woman named Selina Kyle who ran for mayor of New York City but died. Costas says Kyle didn't just die, she vanished, records destroyed, and that someone seems to have gone to a lot of trouble to wipe out any trace of her. She finds a birth certificate for Kyle's sister, and she notices the resemblance between Catwoman's mug shots and Selina Kyle's campaign photos.

Kelly thinks that Catwoman might be Selina Kyle's sister, and he wants to go track her down. Costas advises caution, however. Catwoman has changed, and if she finds out they're after her, she could come after them.

A café waitress, meanwhile, seems very interested in the detectives' conversation.
