Cerdia is located in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, north of the Tropic of Cancer, almost directly west of Gibralter, in the same region as Madeira and the Canary Islands.[3]
History
Early this century, the island nation of Cerdia was infamous for defying international law, and waged economic war against Atlantis. This went on for several months. Cerdia laid claim to an area of Atlantean waters, overfished it drastically, drilled for oil on the sea floor, tripled the size of its navy, and repeatedly confronted the Atlantean military. Cerdian agents may have been behind an attempted bomb attack against the King of Atlantis, in New York City. Meanwhile and elsewhere, another attempted bomb attack was made, against the Queen of Cerdia, Charlanda. This however was a destructive and dangerous hoax planned out by Charlanda herself, with the aid of her servant, Whynt. Several members of Charlanda's own security detail were killed in the blast.
That same day, Cerdia launched a seismic attack across the Atlantean Colonies, and a biological attack on Atlantis itself. Cerdia (secretly allied with Orm Marius) deployed a biological weapon comprising billions of coral organisms, assembled into enormous, mobile, destructive monsters. Great devastation and massive civilian casualties were inflicted on Atlantis before Aquaman and Tempest were ultimately able to disassemble the monsters.[1]
Aquaman counterattacked Cerdia, and there was a war.[2]
At some later point in history, Cerdia was annexed by Atlantis.
