Chac was the ruler of an ancient Aztec tribe in the Yucatan.

Upon inspection of a crashed alien vessel Chac found a number of powerful alien weapons and other marvels of science. Using the discoveries allowed him to rule his nation with an iron fist. His people eventually grew tired of his rule and overthrew him. They took and hid his weapons while also feeding him an amnesia-causing potion before setting him loose into the jungles. After living for hundreds of years with amnesia, Chac was hired by Mavis Trent to help in a dig of old Aztec ruins.

There, his memory was restored upon finding one of his old weapons. He sent Mavis Trent and her colleagues back to Midway City with amnesia while he continued to find all of his old weapons. This brought Hawkman and Hawkgirl to Yucatan to investigate and to fight with Chac. Hawkman and Hawkgirl were able to easily defeat him.

Chac was later used as a pawn, along with the Joker, in one of Dr. Destiny's revenge schemes against the Justice League of America. Hawkman and Batman went to South America to stop the two crooks.

Powers

None

Abilities

  • Chemistry: Chac had access to various devices from the craft of an unspecified alien race. This granted him knowledge of various chemical formulas including one which increased a person's life span. The limitations of this potion are unknown, however, Chac remained youthful and vital for several hundred years. He also created a potion that erased one's memories; he could also create the antidote. However, it appears that encountering certain objects tied to a persons past could trigger a return of a person's memories.

Equipment

  • A dousing rod which could control water; a wand which could fire bolts of concussive energy; a decorated box on a string which caused sonic waves; a mask which could blow strong gusts of wind; a carving of a head with an unknown function.

  • This version of Chac, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
