Synopsis for "A Scream of Yesterdays!"

Eighty years ago, a glowing object fell from the sky, smashing into the Lovecraft family farm in Skull Mountain Village. Something about the object drove the family members to homicidal rage and legends grew up around it that formed an evil cult hiding in the foothills of the Ozarks.

Nearby, in the present day, the Challengers of the Unknown need to escape from Algernon Stark's castle with the help of his daughter Corinna Stark. They have to leave behind the mortally-wounded Prof who is held in a stasis chamber that keeps him alive. As they exit into an electrical storm, they are intercepted by the Slaves of Chu: members of the cult in Skull Mountain Village. The bridge off the mountain has collapsed in the storm, so there is no way for the Challs to make it back to society for proper medical care. They turn back to Stark's residence, where Algernon has regained consciousness from fighting the Challengers.[1] He sets off traps that the heroes narrowly avoid and Rocky easily punches out the old man again.

A lightning bolt blows the electrical generator and causes a massive explosion. As the Challs regain their wits, they find that Algernon has disappeared, along with Prof. Corinna directs the team to the deserted and purportedly haunted Lovecraft farm, thinking her father has run off there. As they approach, they see Cult of Chu is holding a ceremony, where the robed high priest Chu leads his slaves in a chant around a fire. Algernon Stark is there as well, and he is told that his reward for serving the cult is to have his life essence absorbed for Chu's strength.

Corinna runs to save him but she is too late. The cultists abduct her, Ace, and Rocky, with Red barely escaping. Chu reveals that the life force drained from Algernon feeds small spores that grow into tentacled reptilians known as Togga or Conquerors. The foreign object that crashed decades ago was an escape pod that held several reptilians when their home planet became uninhabitable. All but one of them devolved into spore form to conserve their energy and the priest of the Cult of Chu was left to guide the spacecraft. Once he landed, he began harvesting the life energy of the villagers to slowly regain his strength over the decades. Now that he is fully recharged, he is ready to send his cult out to murder enough humans to regrow his thousands of fellow Togga.

Just as Chu begins the process to drain life from Rocky, Red bursts into the farmhouse. After a brief scuffle, Chu slithers off into the darkness. The Challs destroy the spores containing the rest of the Togga and they find Prof's capsule but it is empty. The team heads off to find their comrade.
