Synopsis for "Challengers of the Unknown"
For 150 years, there have been disappearances in the town of Harvest, Wyoming. A young man, Jamie contacts the Challengers of the Unknown to investigate. When they arrive, he is being beaten by bullies and they ask him what he knows about the harvest ceremony. His father was taken years ago and has not appeared since. When they assess the site of the harvest, it's a perfect circle stripped bare of any loose stones, life, or irregularities.
Local law enforcement and clergy discuss what they can do to preserve the town's traditions and are interrupted by Saxon, who offers to help.
The Challengers investigate further and when they meet at a bar to discuss what they've found (minus Kenn Kawa), townies attack them. Saxon comes to their aid. The brawl mysteriously ends and Clay Brody passes out without any evident cause. Saxon proceeds to attack Brenda Ruskin and Marlon Corbet barely escapes from a mob leader by the local clergy.
Saxon chains the three Challengers to a pipe in the harvest circle and draws out Marlon by threatening to kill an innocent girl. Saxon kills the pastor for objecting to his plan and everyone in the circle is quickly caught up in an anti-gravity event—Kenn, Marlon, and the innocents manage to escape and Brenda and Clay stay chained to the pipe, while Saxon and the clergyman float into outer space in seconds. Kenn manages to save a book with complex mathematical instructions on the recurrence of these events, safeguarding others from being caught in them and debunking local legends that it is an act of the gods.
