Synopsis for "The Enchanted Bat"

An outstanding young outfielder named Mick Cooper plays baseball for the Midville Cougars. He is very talented when it comes to catching balls but his batting skills are dismal. He consistently strikes out and his coach informs him that he will be benched soon. A few nights later, Cooper attends a county fair where he watches a magician perform. Cooper approaches the magician and asks for his help with his batting skills. The magician performs a séance type ceremony where he calls upon the spirit of Babe Ruth and makes an enchanted baseball bat appear out of nowhere. Cooper uses the bat to embark on an amazing batting career. He becomes a hitting sensation as he helps his team climb to the top of the league. One day his magical bat is damaged by a teammate. His teammates then explain that the magician and the bat were a hoax. They had fooled Cooper into believing that the bat was magical to boost his confidence. Cooper realizes that the magic was inside of him all along as he steps up to bat for the championship.

Synopsis for "Street Fight"

A young boxer known as Packy East finds himself in a boxing match against an aggressive opponent. As the fight progresses, Packy thinks back on the circumstances which lead him to the world of boxing. As a young man he faced bullies that picked on him, Packy stood up to them but he lacks the fighting skills to take them on. His rich uncle them hires a body guard for Packy. The bodyguard teaches the young boy to defend himself and Packy eventually turns into a champion boxer. He goes on to win intercollegiate titles and becomes a boxing ring success. He eventually chooses to pursue boxing as a career as opposed to assuming the reigns of his uncles business. One day Packy is attacked on the street by a common thug. The thug uses unconventional fighting skills to take Packy by surprise but runs away as the police approach. Packy then realizes that he might want to try his hand at something other than boxing and agrees to work for his uncle.

Synopsis for "The Animal"

Chuck "the animal" Gabowski plays football for Southport College. He plays both offense and defense as he helps his team score points. The team quarterback comes to depend on Gabowski to create holes in the defensive lines which allow him to pass and score on numerous occasions. Gabowski soon realizes that the quarterback gets all the attention and glory. Gabowski then announces that he himself wants to play quarterback. The coach indulges Gabowski for fear that he might quite the team if he does not get his way. Gabowski plays the quarterback position but winds up failing miserably. He soon realizes the error of his ways and agrees to return back to his normal role. Gabowski goes on to play professional football while his former college quarterback settles down to a normal life selling insurance.
