Chronos steals John Fox's Time Gauntlets. He initially tells Fox he did it to defeat a villain named Scourge, but he actually wanted to prevent Fox from using the gauntlets when the Justice Legion becomes trapped in the 20th Century, because doing so would kill the entire Legion.
This comic issue is a part of the "DC One Million" event that crossed over into every DC Title in 1998. It involved present day interaction with versions of the characters seen in contemporary comic books with their counterparts in the 853rd Century.
