Quote1 And that's the thing about sunsets. They're majestic, stately, lovely and inevitable. And then, a little ways to the east, it all starts all over again. Quote2

Born in a small town in Kansas, Clark Kent was exposed to unknown radiation from a meteor strike that gave all the powers of the comic book superhero, Superman.

Born to David and Laura Kent in small town in Kansas, his parents thought I'd be neat to name him Clark due to his striking resemblance to the comic book hero. Every year on his birthday he would be given Superman comics, toys and other merchandise. However, he would come to loathe and envy the hero due to the bullying he was subjected to, due to his name.

To get away from it all, he'd take off for the Smokey Hills and spend the weekend hiking. One night, he'd woken up, snarled in his sleeping bag, however he quickly discovered he could fly and had all the abilities of Superman. Eventually he would be spotted in the sky and a rumor around Picketsville started about a "Flying Man", with reporters and the government investigating. Growing concerned about the origin of his powers, he'd decided to talk with Wendy Case, a reporter who wrote the first story about him, asking her to discover where he came from. He would continually meet up with her, asking not to be recorded, and would consider using his powers for personal gain. One of their meetings he discovered a hidden camera and stopped convening with her.

On Halloween night he had dressed in a Superboy costume, ready to reveal himself. Looking for Casse, the gas main suddenly exploded. Hearing cries for help, he flew in and out, carrying people, moving too fast for anyone to see him. He then found Cassie under a wooden beam, and lifted it, with multiple reporters around him. Seeing Wendy, he figured out she'd started all of this, and pretended to be crushed under the beam. Bomb components were found in Wendy Case's car, and she was later committed for psychiatric evaluation. Clark continued to use his powers in secret, figuring that he liked to keep things quiet to the potential chaos of his unveiling.

Years later, Clark became a writer for the New Yorker , and continued to use his powers to help in secret using a Superman costume, under the idea that anyone who sees him would be dismissed off-hand. One night, while out with his coworkers, they set him up on another prank date with a woman named Lois, and despite the prank start, the two hit it off and began dating. However, one night on patrol, Clark came upon a capsized boat and towed it to shore. The boat, however, was bait, and Clark was attacked and rendered unconscious, then taken to a secret facility for study. He was placed in a chamber and fed sedatives while floating, managing to overhear of other "manifestations", but eventually woke up while the facility was empty for the night, and broke free. He attacked several soldiers who stumbled on him, then, once finding the bodies of dead test subjects, destroyed the facility, leaving the soldiers outside and flying off.

Clark spent several days hiding in his apartment, and eventually returned to work but started wearing glasses, on the off chance that someone might be following him would not recognize him. He also got a book agent and stared writing a book, but found it hard to concentrate and instead spent time looking up Superman sightings online for info. The strain of his secret and what the government wanted with him hurt his relationship with Lois, so he eventually told her. After a long talk and a flight around Manhattan down to North Carolina, the two resolved to keep Clark's secret safe together.
