Synopsis for "The Coming of N'hglthss"

Claw is in the midst of disposing a group of would be assasins when he encounters an unexpected Ally by the name of Ghilkyn Prince of the Thousand Hills. Ghilkyn evens the odds by taking a sword alongside Claw and helping him bring an end to attack by assassins. In the meantime King Occulus consults with the wizard Miftung demanding results in his quest to dispose of Claw who he sees as a threat to his power. Miftung has been working on an opening to another dimension to release a creature that would take care of Claw forever. The scene then changes back to Claw and Ghilkyn as they ride further into the countryside. Ghilkyn explains that he comes from another plane of existence where the greatest problem they have is boredom. He then explains that he began to dabble in sorcery to pass the time until he was embarrassingly cast out of his world and into the present. At this point Claw has noticed that his new companion also has horn like protrusion coming out of his head. Ghilkyn admits they are a nuisance but the ladies find them fascinating. As they ride forward, the two adventurers run into an unexpected scene in which a woman is about to be burned at the steak by an evil character that claims she has brought chaos to their innocent village. The woman proclaims her innocence as an interdimensional opening appears in the sky caused by the wizard Miftung. A giant monster emerges from the opening as the onlookers spy on Nhglthss the Damned for the first time. Claw and Ghilkyn are the first to jump into action as they attack the giant but he seems to be immune to their sword attack. Claw uses a spear to puncture the giant beast through the foot pinning him in place. As the beast moves forward he topples over as a result of the pin. Claw and Ghilkyn release the girl and carry her away on their horses. The girl explains that she was not a sorceress as she was accused but rather she was being punished for denying the priest that had abducted her. Claw then mentions that they still have a creature to deal with that cannot be killed. The girl suggests that they consult a burning figure name Asvitar who might tell them how to banish the monstrous fiend. The three figures ride into a cave where Asvitar is located. They offer him a sacrifice in exchange for consulting him. The burning figure reveals that the only way to defeat Nhglthss is to obtain the Moonthorn Sword. The sword was to have been given to Claw along with his crimson gauntlet at release but it was stolen by evil forces and secreted into a void. To enter the void, Claw must use an arcane Talisman called the Grimstone but it has been dispersed into three separate location. Asvitar gives Claw the information he needs to locate the parts for the stone and sends him on his way. Before departing Claw seems to hesitate and is about to ask for more information on his release but Asvitar remarks that there are things even he is forbidden to talk about. The three figures depart the cave and head back to the village where the giant Nhglthss is wrecking havoc. As Claw and Ghilkyn attack the beast once more they are besieged by a group of deadly crow-like birds. The pair uses their swords to fight them off while the evil priest accosts the woman once more as he is determined to kill her. The birds then attack the priest and end his life. After the fight the group is left wondering where the giant beast has disappeared to. Claw and Ghilkyn then embark on their quest for the Grimstone.
