Clay Brody is a member of the second group called the Challengers of the Unknown. Prior to the airplane accident that brought them together, he was a race car driver. In the New 52 reboot, Brody's Challengers unite with the original team. Clay Brody was created by Steven Grant and John Paul Leon, first appearing in Challengers of the Unknown (Volume 3) #1. (1997)
