Clifford Steele (Danny's Dream)

Clifford "Cliff" Steele is Automaton, a member of the supergroup Legion of the Strange. He's a human brain within a robot body.

Cliff was a superhero who fought with the Legion of the Strange for a long enough time to become close with teammates Negative Man and Elasti-Girl. At one point, he was captured and his brain was removed from his body by Norman Caesar, a mad scientist who was trying to bring down the Legion. Caesar inserted his brain into Cliff's body and impersonated him for a time, but ultimately had a change of heart and sacrificed himself to save a blind girl, and Cliff was returned to his position as Automaton.
