Cloister, Vermont is the home town of occult detective Mark Merlin.
History
Located close to the state capital of Montpelier, the town has been a hotbed for the mystic since the secluded valley was originally settled. The current city is built near the sight of the first of the same name.
A group of farmers hoped to shield themselves from the Devil's influence on Earth by using black magic. They drove off any outsiders, and those that wouldn't wander off met with a worse fate. They were so blind that they could not see that evil had corrupted them from within. After the pastor stabbed thirty-two people to death, the remainder fled. Cloister laid abandoned for nearly a century. In 1827, another mystic was attracted to the town.
