Gotham City. They are the ancestors of the Batman villain the Penguin.
The Cobblepot Family is a wealthy family with a long history inHistory
Earth-Two
Nothing was ever revealed about the family history of Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin).
NOTE: In 1946, the Batman comic strip introduced the Penguin's aunt Miranda Cobblepot, but the comic strip was not canon for Earth-Two.
Earth-One
Oswald Cobblepot's parents owned a pet shop that focused on birds, and creditors seizing the shop after his mother's death is what drove Oswald into a life of crime as the Penguin. Nothing else is known about the Cobblepot family, except that his paternal aunt Miranda Cobblepot had some money saved.

- Miranda Cobblepot: Oswald's paternal aunt. She had some money, and after her brother died she helped her sister-in-law run the bird shop. She provided the funds for Oswald to attend college.[1]
- Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin): Thief
New Earth
The Cobblepots were a wealthy Gotham City family. Though once major steel barons, their assets waned due to unsuccessful attempts in the hotel business.[2]
NOTE: The Cobblepots being a wealthy, influential Gotham family was established post-Infinite Crisis, and may be a result of changes to reality due to that Crisis. Earlier glimpses into the New Earth Cobblepots history (such as Batman #548) show something closer to the Earth-One history.

- In the TV series Gotham, Oswald is the first member of the Cobblepot family, as he anglicized his Hungarian last name from "Kapelput" to "Cobblepot".
- Adaptations in other media have added Cobblepot family members not seen in the comics, including:
- Henry Cobblepot, father of Theodore Cobblepot (Batman: Arkham Origins videogame)
- In the November 18, 2012 issue of the newspaper strip Dick Tracy, minor villain Broadway Bates is shown talking to his brother Oswald who, even though in shadow, is sporting a monocle and a top hat. Bates comments he is leaving his brother's town and going "Back to my city! Where cops don't wear masks and capes and that blasted signal isn't in the sky!" (sic) After Bates is captured his brother stands in silhouette with an umbrella in his hand (January 5, 2013)
