History

In 1948, a jaded high-society gossip columnist named Reynard developed an electronic ray that converted water into hydrogen and oxygen, explosively, and used it to rob some banks. The actual explosives in these robberies were the bank guards themselves.

These robberies were investigated by Blackhawk, who worked out who was behind the crimes, and what target would be next. Reynard's attempt to rob the national treasury of Colomba was foiled, and Reynard used his device on himself, destroying the device in the explosion.
