Limbo is a place where obscure and unused comic characters reside when they are not in print.

History

The residents realize they are fictional characters but most want nothing more than to be "written back" into the comics. If a character is lucky enough to escape Limbo by being written into a book, they forget their time in Limbo and that they are fictional. Animal Man once encountered this realm.[1] Superman and his allies entered this realm during the Final Crisis.[2] The Outsiders also visited it, searching for the lost members of Planetary.[3]
