Corinna Stark is an ally of the Challengers of the Unknown with a background in the occult.
History
The daughter of deranged scientist Algernon Stark, Corinna was a prisoner at his castle in Skull Mountain Village, deep in the Ozarks. When the Challengers of the Unknown end up fighting one of his monstrosities, Algernon guns down Prof in a fit of rage. The distraught Corinna instructs them to put him in a cryogenic chamber to save his life and she solemnly offers her services as the fourth Challenger while Prof is incapacitated.[1] Her background knowledge in the occult gives her unique skills in her short tenure with the team.
Powers and Abilities
Abilities
- Alchemy: She has a library on alchemical solutions and can craft some herself.[2]
- Hypnosis: Using her voice and a swinging amulet, she can hypnotize others.[3]
- Medicine: Nurse training.[4]
- Multilingualism: Corinna knows Latin.[2]
- Occultism: Corinna knows about monsters, ghouls, and magic. She can hold seances to communicate with spirits[5] and can speak magical incantations.[3]
- Psychic Link: Corinna can occasionally get telepathic messages from the dead, but she cannot control when or from whom.[5]
Notes
- Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
