The Cosmic Skis are a pair of skis created by the Source.
History
When the galactic despot Darkseid began to wage his war against the New Gods on Earth, the Source selected paraplegic Willie Walker to serve as the Avatar of Death. Embodied with the spirit of the Black Racer, he was equipped with a pair of skis and two ski poles.
Capabilities
Unlike conventional skis, the Black Racer's skis enable him to travel through the air and if necessary outer space. The skis are capable of faster than light speed, can phase through solid objects and are virtually indestructible.
Trivia
- The Cosmic Skis are an analog to the Silver Surfer's Surfboard in Marvel Comics, both of which are creations of Jack Kirby. The two are later merged in the DC Versus Marvel crossover and used by the Silver Racer.
