Synopsis for "More Pain Comics, Part Three: Self, Contained"
Kent Nelson is playing slots in a casino and he draws the attention of the security enforcers, who want to inspect the Helmet of Fate. They find nothing unusual and allow him to keep playing on the machine, while he manages to win every single time using his magic. Nelson then returns the money earned at the casinoe to the pawn shop for the Helmet. The next afternoon he visits a mystic book store, and the lady who owns the shop comments about Nelson's aura, which seems to be rotten, except for the Helmet he is wearing. She decides to help him cleanse his aura and later she provides a book of incantations for Nelson to read.
Nelson opens a random page and starts reading. He is immediately transported to another dimension, where he starts a journey of self-discovery and understanding. However, in order to finally understand the meaning of his visions, he has to endure dreadful scenarios and meets eerie beings which help him embrace his fate. After he is done, he returns from his trance to the book store and scares one of the lady's customer. Later, the girl and Nelson discuss his epiphany, while having a coffee and she confesses that she finds frustrating the fact that someone who barely understands the spiritual world has been given such an enormous power in the form of a Helmet. The girl assumes it must all be fate and as she leaves, Nelson tries his magic powers once again, with successful results.
