Synopsis for "More Pain Comics, Part VII: Untethered"
Maddy is extremely glad to finally have in her possession the Helmet of Fate, given to her by Kent V. Nelson. She resented Nelson ever since she knew of the helmet's existence and how it somehow was given to him. Knowing that fate must have acted through him to give her the helmet, she decides to wear it and as soon as she puts the helmet on, she starts envisioning mystical beings and pretty angels. Maddy floats towards them and she talks about God's omnipresence and radiance over everything, but the angels spit at her and denigrate her for believing in such claptrap. Soon, Maddy falls down from heaven and meets a demonical being on Earth. He calls himself Ymp and he tells her that he has been sent to destroy her body and spirit. In order to do this, Ymp shows Maddy the real state of life in the universe, in which no living being can exist without another exterminating them, creating an endless cycle of perpetual pain. Maddy can't stand the truth and she begs to be taken back to her world, to which the Ymp replies that she is merely stricken by her own pain, the same that she has given into without a fight.
In the meantime, Kent V. Nelson is exhausted, yet content for having removed the helmet from his life. He decides to take a well deserved nap, but as soon as he falls asleep a light from another dimension shines through his door and his body is covered with a white substance until he is fully covered on the substance and he is taken to another dimension in that state.
At that moment, the Ymp's torment over Maddy continues and soon, she is left alone in a desert with her body paralyzed from the waist down. She is then dragged to Negal's dimension, where the demon is waiting for her arrival. Maddy's body is placed alongside the bodies of Inza Fox and Kent V. Nelson as Negal reveals his plan to eliminate every living being that has some connection to Doctor Fate.
