There, they milk the beast for the amber fluid. To stop the butterflies, all we have to do is kill the cow. Without it, they won't be able to stay alive for more than a couple of weeks. 
The Cow was an alien from Butterflies' home planet that provided their nourishment.
History
After their planet became uninhabitable, the Butterflies teleported the cow across the Milky Way to provide their nourishment on Earth. However, the cow was eventually killed by Leota Adebayo using Peacemaker's "Human Torpedo" helmet.[1]
